Growling grass frog project

Growling Grass Frog project

We received funding through the 2022-23 Victorian Landcare Grants to conduct surveys for the endangered Growling Grass Frog throughout the Horsham council area. Wetland Revival Trust were engaged to undertake the surveys for us. They visited 12 sites that previously have had records of Growling Grass Frogs. Only one of these sites had any GGF and 4 were heard here. Surveys were not undertaken at an optimum time due to funding contraints so we will look to continue surveying for the GGF when conditions are more suitable.

citizen science project

This year we are delivering several workshops aimed at Citizen Scientists across HRCC. The aim is to educate citizens about how they can easily participate in recording biodiversity through apps such as iNaturalist, Frog ID and the Backyard Bird Count. Workshops have been held for recording native bees using iNaturalist for World Bee Day. We are also planning a macrophotography and iNaturalist workshop, a bird week walk and talk and a frog week event. Have a look at our upcoming events for more information!
